Overview
The installation of SQL Server Express 2017 & newer is slightly different from earlier versions.


Requirements
See Requirements Here
1. A computer/server with at least 60 GB of hard drive space available.
2. Permission to download software
3. Permission to install software on the computer/server being used.

Step 1.
Download the SQL Server 2017 Express software from the Microsoft website. Use this link "https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55994" or conduct a search for SQL Server Express 2017 on a search engine of your choice.



Step 2.
Ensure the file is saved on the computer/server that will have the VersaCall software installed. Double click on the executable file to launch.

Step 3.
After the extraction completes you will see an installation type install screen - select Custom.

Step 4.
If you receive a download location screen - select the Install button.

Step 5.
When the installation window appears select "New Installation or add features to an existing installation".

Step 6.
Select to Accept the terms click on the Next button.

Step 7.
SQL Installer will run a check on the system - once it has completed select the Next button. If something is flagged as "Failed" contact VersaCall support for assistance.

Step 8.
On the Features page ensure the following features are checked - select the Next button.

On the Instances page select Named Instance - click on the Next button.

Step 10.
On the Service Accounts page set the SQL Server Database Engine & the SQL Server Browser to Automatic - select the Next button.

Step 11.
On the Account Provisioning page select Mixed Mode - enter "SQLServer123" as the password. Select the Next button.

Step 12.
The SQL Server installer will run and provide you with at status bar. Once the installation is complete you will see a Successful message. Close this window and the SQL Installer window.

Select the Windows Start button.

Step 14.
Find the Microsoft SQL Server 2017 folder and expand it. Select the SQL Server Configuration Manager.

Step 15.
Expand the SQL Server Network Configuration - select Protocols for SQLEXPRESS.

Step 16.
Right click on each Protocol and select Enable. Ensure all of the protocols are set to enabled.

Step 17.
On the left side of the window select SQL Server Services.

Step 18.
Right click on the SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) service and select Restart. Repeat the process for the SQL Server Browser.

Step 19.
Close all open windows. Return to the Installation Page and move on Step #3. Click Here for the Installation Page.
