A route has to be created so that you can tell the system what output(s) to communicate with when an alarm is set.

1. Open the VT3000 web interface – log in with your username and password – select Configuration from the main menu – select Routing from the configuration menu.

2. The Routing page will load, below is an explanation of the options on this page. For our guide you will click on the Add button.

a. Add – select this button if you want to add a new route to the system. b. Edit – select this button if you want to edit an existing route. You would need to click on the route first to highlight it then click on the edit button. c. Delete – select this button if you want to remove a route from the system. You would need to click on the route first to highlight it then click on the delete button. d. Copy – use this option if you want to copy an existing route. You would need to click on the route first to highlight it then click on the copy button. e. Print – use this option to get a view/print out of the route with escalations and outputs. This is useful if you have multiple routes and you need to check them for errors.

3. On the Edit Route page ensure the Properties tab is selected.

4. Field definitions are below:

a. Route Name – enter a name for the route. Generally, you will want to name this something you will recognize when setting up communications on your input modules. b. Route ID – assigned by the VT3000 software. c. Repeat Last Escalation – you will select this option if you want the message to be repeated on the last escalation in the list you create. If this is not selected, the route will go until the last escalation is notified and then stop sending messages.

5. Select the Escalations Tab – click on the plus icon to add an escalation.

6. The escalation list will show all escalations that have been created for the route. The one you are working on will highlight in blue.

7. To the right of the escalation list is where you will select the outputs for this escalation level.

a. Duration – enter the amount of time (seconds) that you want to elapse before the outputs on the next level are notified. b. Description – this is an optional field.

8. Under the duration & description fields is the outputs list. There are 2 ways to find outputs.

a. Select – using the select mode will show all outputs entered into the system. Use the down arrow in the field above the list to break down the list by output type. i. Scroll down the list of outputs and select one by clicking on it. ii. Click on the Add button to add it to the escalation. b. Search – using search mode will allow the user to enter a keyword to search. i. Select Search as the mode. ii. Enter a keyword in the available field – click on the Find button. iii. Click on the output to highlight it. iv. Click on the Add button.

9. Once all of the outputs have been added to the escalation you can click on the plus icon to add another escalation or you can select Save & Exit to save the route.

10. After an escalation(s) have been created you can use the editing icons. If there are no escalations in the route the plus (add) icon is the only one that will show.
