Below we will explain all of the functions and options available on the Device Status page. This page is like the control center of your wireless communication devices. From here you can update configurations, update firmware, send various commands, find battery status (battery powered call stations), get signal strength and much more.

1. Open the VT3000 software - click on the Diagnostics icon from the home page - click on the Device Status icon from the diagnostics page.

a. Icon – on the far right will be an icon that symbolizes what type of module is communicating. These icons match the icons seen in the Add menu on the Devices page.

b. Product – this will tell you what type of module the system is communicating with.

c. Device Name – after you have sent a configuration to a module, the name will show in this column.

d. Network – each coordinator that you add to the system has a network name. The coordinator that the module is communicating with will appear in this column. This comes into play when you have multiple coordinators.

e. Address – the mesh address of the module will show in this column.

f. Last Heard From – this is the time the system last heard from the device. The modules should check in every 15 to 30 minutes. If you see a time beyond 45 minutes the device will show in red.

The Device Status page provides numerous functions, it is the control center of the Wireless Mesh Communications. The ability to update configurations, update firmware, send commands, find battery status (battery powered call stations), get signal strength and much more can be found on this page.

1. Open the VT3000 web interface - select Diagnostics - select Device Status.

2. Device Status Details:

    a. Icon – an icon indicating the type of device.
    b. Product – type of device and firmware version.
    c. Device Name – device configuration name once it has been configured.
    d. Network – coordinators are assigned network names - all devices connected to the coordinator will show its network name.
    e. Address – the mesh address of the device.
    f. Last Heard From – last time the device checked in with the coordinator. Devices check in every 30 minutes - any device beyond 45 minutes will show red.
    g. Status – icons represent conditions related to devices - see Status section below.
    h. Details – select to view the Device Details page for the device - see Details section below.
    i. Options – select to view the Device Options page for the device - see Options section below.

PRODUCT:

1. – this icon appears next to the type of module when there is a new firmware update. Please refer to our guide on updating firmware for more information.

DEVICE NAME:

1. – this icon appears next to the device name when there are changes to the configuration in the software but have not been sent to the device.

2. – this means that no configuration has been sent to the device.

STATUS:

1. Battery life remaining icons. These icons will only appear if you are using battery powered call stations.

a. – represents a battery life of 50% or more. b. – represents a battery life of less than 50%. c. – represents a battery life of less than 15%. When you see this icon you should change the batteries within 24 hours.

2. Signal strength icons. These icons will only appear if you have done a packet test on the device.

a. – represents 100% of the packets sent to the coordinator were received, no communications problems. b. – represents loss of packets sent to the coordinator. You must move the device closer to the coordinator or install a repeater to strengthen the signal.

3. File transfer - - This icon will appear is you have tried to send a file or command to the module but it did not go through. The system will queue files for transfer at a later time, but any device with open files has most likely lost communications. The exception to this rule is a battery powered device as they only check in periodically and turn off immediately afterwards.

4. SD Card - - This icon will appear is there is a problem with the micro SD card inside the device. You will need to replace the card immediately. Please see our guide on replacing an SD card for more information.

5. – This icon will appear when a file is being sent to the device.

DETAILS:

1. – click on the link in line with the device name to access the options available.

2. Information – this options shows the type of network the device is communicating with and the device type. The important information here is the Queued Messages section, this will tell you how many messages have not gone been transmitted to the device.

3. File Transfers – this area will show all of the files either being transferred or awaiting transfer to the module. You can click on the link to stop the transfer.

4. Coverage – this area will give you real time information on any packet tests you are running on the device.

5. Components – when using an IO module connected to a touch screen, you will see the version of the app the unit has installed.

OPTIONS:

1. Configuration – this section will show you the current configuration the module has, the sync key and all the available configurations you have entered into the system for the specific module. Select a configuration from the drop down field and click on the Update Configuration button to change a module.

2. Firmware – this section will show you the current firmware loaded into the device. When you have a touch screen attached to an IO module you will see the app version loaded. To change firmware versions, select one from the drop down field and click on the Update Firmware button.

3. Commands – there are various commands that can be issued to devices depending upon the type of device. We suggest that you use this section only when instructed by a VersaCall technician.

BUTTONS & ICONS:

At the top of the page in the right corner you will have either 2 buttons or a series of icons, depending upon the version of software you have.

1. - click this button to refresh the page. Used with attaching a new device to the system or updating the configuration. 2. – click this button to send VersaCall Service a print out of your Device Status page. This is used when troubleshooting issues on your system. 3. – If this icon is full color (blue) then the page is set to refresh every 15 seconds. 4. – If this icon is full color (blue & red) the page is set to never refresh. 5. – use this icon to manually refresh the page. 6. – use this button to send a print out of the Device Status page to VersaCall Service. This is used when troubleshooting issues on your system.
