An Isolation Code is the specific channel used for a coordinator. The only time there are different Isolation Codes is when a facility has multiple coordinators. All new devices are shipped with the default Isolation Code of 1. This guide explains multiple ways to change the Isolation Code, please select the one that best fits your situation.

Using the VT3000 software: For this method to work, you must have access to a system with a coordinator running with Isolation Code 1.

1. Power the device that you want to change the Isolation Code. This device must show in Device Status to complete the steps.

2. Open VT3000 Core software – log in – select Diagnostics – select Device Status.

3. The Device Status page must have the Coordinator that is set to Isolation Code 1. On the Device Status page find the device that you need to change the Isolation Code on in the list – click on the Options Link on the right side of the screen.

4. On the Device Options screen select Commands.

5. On the Commands page click on the down arrow in the Command field.

6. Select Set Isolation Code from the drop-down list.

7. Enter the Isolation Code number in the Isolation Code field – click on the Issue Command button.

8. After 1 minute, the device will have rebooted and will not be showing on the coordinator/network with the Isolation Code that was entered in step 7.

NOTE: This method will work for any device, the only requirement is that you have a coordinator programmed to Isolation Code 1.

Using the Touch Screen:

This method will only work on TIM, PSM and BSC Devices that are currently communicating with the VersaCall system.

1. Go to the touch screen either mounted or unmounted. Both the IO module and the Touch Screen must be powered and the Bluetooth connection made. Select the 3 squares in the top right corner of the screen next to the time of day.

2. A PIN entry screen will load – enter “7047” as the PIN – select the OK button.

3. Select Settings from the next menu.

4. On the Settings page find the Mesh section. Under the Mesh title find the Isolation Code line item. Select the Get button on the right side of the screen.

5. The current Isolation Code will show in the space between the title and the Get button. The Get button will now display as the Change button. Select the Change button.

6. In the Isolation Code screen enter the new code you want to use – select the Set button.

7. The IO module will reboot and load with the new Isolation Code. Check the Device Status page for the device to see if it shows in the correct mesh network/coordinator.

Using the Internal Micro SD Card:

This method will work for any module regardless of the type. Use this method if none of the ones above have been successful. You will need a computer and a device that will allow the computer to read from the Micro SD Card.

1. Unplug power from the device, the exception would be touch screens as they are not part of this process.

2. Loosen the screws on the front of the module until they spin freely.

3. With the cover removed from the module you will see the circuit board. There are 2 types of boards, in the images below we have highlighted where the SD card can be located. The first type is found in call stations, repeaters and assembly modules. For this board, the SD card is spring loaded – push in on the card to release it. The second type is found on IO modules, switch contact modules and wireless controls modules. For this board, the SD card must be pushed up to unlock the lifted to remove.

                    TYPE 1 TYPE 2

4. Once the SD card is removed from the device, insert it into the reader plugged into a computer that you can access. Using Windows Explorer, open the card and remove all the files on the card.

5. Open Windows Notepad. If you do not have this program you can open Microsoft Word. Select to create a New file.

6. On the first space in the document type in the Isolation Code number that you want the device to be on. Do not type anything else on the file – no spaces no additional lines.

7. Select to Save the file. For Notepad simply name the file ISOCODE.txt. If you are using Word you will need to select the Save Ad option. Once the dialog box is open select the Plain Text format then name the file ISOCODE.txt. Ensure that you save the file to a location you can navigate to easily.

NOTEPAD:

WORD:

8. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the location where you save the ISOCODE.txt file. Select to Copy the file.

9. Navigate to the SD Card you opened in step 4. Select to Paste the file on the SD Card.

10. Remove the SD Card from the computer/reader and place it back on the module board.

11. Place the cover back onto the module and tighten the screws.

12. Power up the module. The boot will take approximately 2 minutes – open the VT3000 software and check Device Status to ensure the module shows on the correct mesh network/coordinator.
