A PSM and a TIM have an I/O module that can accept a wire input from a machine. This input can be set to trigger a count on the module. Below is a guide on how to setup a count for an input. Before you proceed you must first have the output from your machine wired for connection to the I/O module. For more information see the how to guide on wiring inputs.

1. Open the VT3000 web interface – on the main menu click on the Configuration icon – on the configuration page click on the Devices icon.

2. On the Devices page either click on the PSM or TIM icon from the Add New menu or select an existing device and click on the Edit button.

3. Click on the Discrete Inputs tab.

4. There are 4 inputs that can be configured – click on the one that will be used for your count.

5. A properties menu will show to the right of the output menu. By default, the Type will show Disabled. Click on the down arrow and select Count.

6. The properties menu will expand – below is an explanation of each option:

a. Type – this is where you will select if the input is Disabled (not used), a Transition (used for inputs such as machine down) or a Count. b. Enabled – click in the box to place a checkmark in it if you want the count to be enabled. c. Inverted – click in the box to place a checkmark if you need to invert the way the input collects a count. d. On Delay – if you wish to create a delay in when the input is open/activated then enter that time in milliseconds. e. Off Delay – if you wish to create a delay in when the input is closed/stopped then enter that time in milliseconds.

7. After the Count is setup click on the Save & Exit button. The setup has to be saved first before it can be linked in the following steps.

8. From the Devices page, click on the PSM or TIM that you added the Count input to and click on the Edit button.

9. Click on the Monitoring Points tab.

10. A count can only be added to a Process, select a process from the root menu so that it is highlighted.

11. From the Monitoring Points tool box, click on the Add Sampler icon.

12. The Sampler Properties window will show to the right of the root menu. Below is an explanation of each option:

a. Sampler ID – this is assigned by the VT3000 system. b. Sampler Name – enter a name for the sampler (generally Count or a derivative of that). c. Mode – the only choice is Linked Sampler. d. Type – select Count for an input that is a count and select Scan for an input that is based on scanning a barcode for an item/piece. e. Trigger – this is when the count is synced with the VersaCall system. i. Periodic – creates a field titled Period (s). 1. Period (s) – enter the number of seconds to elapse before the count is updated. ii. As Occurs – the count will update when a count occurs. There will be no Period (s) field. f. Input – click on the down arrow and select the input that you setup the count on. g. Don’t Send Zeros – this box is only available for Periodic. When the update happens the module will not send zero as the count only a whole number. This option will help keep the Events database smaller and make reports run faster. h. Color – choose the color of the field when shown on the touch screen (Red, Yellow or Green).

13. Our example shows a periodic count linked to Discreet Input # 1. The update time is set for 60 seconds, we are not sending zeros and the field will display in yellow.

14. The root will now show the Count inside the Process.

15. Click on the Save & Exit button.

Update the Module:

1. Open the VT3000 web interface – click on the VT3000 button – click on the Diagnostics icon – click on the Device Status icon.

2. Find the PSM that you will be using – click on the Update link next to the Device Name.
