After you setup a Pager in the system you will want to test the pager coverage in the facility. Follow the directions below to accomplish this task. This will help you to identify any dead spots on the floor. You can use larger antennas or simply move the paging transmitter to another location to improve pager coverage.

1. Open the VT3000 web interface – log in with your username and password – select Communications icon from the main menu.

2. The page will load and look like the example below, an explanation of the different sections follows.

a. Outputs – this option is automatically selected and is used for any output that you have setup in the system. b. Devices – this is an option that is not currently available but will be added in later versions. c. Destination Type – this will produce a list of all the different types of outputs that are available. d. List – the large area under Destination Type will display all of the individual outputs that you have setup in the system depending upon what type you selected in Destination Type. e. Message – this is where you will enter the message to be sent to the pager. f. Repeat Every 20 Seconds – this option is used in testing coverage because it repeats the test message every 20 seconds without anyone having to be there to press the send button. g. Send – once you have the message entered you would click on this button to send the message to the output/pager. h. Return to Home – use this button to return to the VT3000 Home Page.

3. From the Communications page click on the down arrow on the Destination Type field and select On-Site Pager.

4. Select the pager you wish to test with from the list – click on it so that it is highlighted.

5. Enter a message to be sent in the Message field. Check mark the Repeat Every 20 Seconds option – click on the Send button.

6. At this point you will want to walk around your facility to see how far the paging transmissions can be received on the pager. This will let you know if the transmitter should be moved or if an amplifier is needed.
