VT3000 - Data Field Overview

There are 7 different types of Data Fields that you can be setup. The specific type is dependent upon which module you have (PSM, TIM or BSC). In order to add a Data Field you must first add an Alarm or a Process, Data Fields cannot be added to counts. In the guide below we will explain each type of Data Field, you can select the one that works best for you.

1. From the Home screen click on Configuration – click on Devices from the Configuration page.

2. Click on the name of the PSM, TIM or BSC that you want to add a data field to – click on the Edit button.

3. From the Device Properties menu click on the Monitoring Points tab.

4. In Monitoring Points, select the Alarm or Process that you want to add a data field to.

5. From the Monitoring Points tool box click on the Data Field icon.

NOTE: There are multiple types of Data Fields, below is an individual explanation of each one. When you select, Source Type the list will coincide with the types explained below.

NOTE: A Lookup choice is available for Source in the examples below. This is a custom option that is not explained in this guide. If you have a lookup source, please contact VersaCall for assistance.

6. Key Input Data Field – this type of data field will require the operator to enter information using the on-screen keyboard on the input module.

a. Data Field Name – enter the name of the data that will be entered. What you type in here will show on the input module as the title. b. Mode – pick the time or moment that you want the operator to be prompted to fill out the information. The options are At Start (beginning of Process or Alarm), During (anytime while the Process or Alarm is active) and At End (when the Process or Alarm is cleared/stopped). c. Source Type – this is where you will select the different types of data fields, in this example select Key Input. d. Not Required – if you select this it will allow the operator to leave the field blank (no data). e. Allow Modification Anytime – if you select this option it will allow the operator to change the data field at any time while the Process or Alarm is active. f. Value Type – there are 4 options available. i. Text – each character typed in will show as text. ii. Numeric (Integer) – the field will only accept a number. iii. Numeric (Decimal) – the field will only accept a number as a decimal. iv. True/False – the operator will be given a bubble on screen to mark either True or False

7. NFC Data Field – this type of data field gets the information from Near Field Communications. This option is only available on Production Status Modules. There is an NFC reader on the back of the input module.

a. Data Field Name – enter the name of the data that will be entered. What you type in here will show on the input module as the title. b. Mode – pick the time or moment that you want the operator to be prompted to fill out the information. The options are At Start (beginning of Process or Alarm), During (anytime while the Process or Alarm is active) and At End (when the Process or Alarm is cleared/stopped). c. Source Type – this is where you will select the different types of data fields, in this example select NFC. d. Not Required – if you select this it will allow the operator to leave the field blank (no data). e. Allow Modification Anytime – if you select this option it will allow the operator to change the data field at any time while the Process or Alarm is active. f. Allow Manual Override – this will allow the operator to type in the information instead of using the NFC. g. Value Type – there are 4 options available. i. Text – each character typed in will show as text. ii. Numeric (Integer) – the field will only accept a number. iii. Numeric (Decimal) – the field will only accept a number as a decimal. iv. True/False – this option shows but it is not applicable to this type of data field.

8. Barcode Reader Data Field – this option requires the operator to enter the information with a barcode reader attached to the PSM/TIM.

a. Data Field Name – enter the name of the data that will be entered. What you type in here will show on the input module as the title. b. Mode – pick the time or moment that you want the operator to be prompted to fill out the information. The options are At Start (beginning of Process or Alarm), During (anytime while the Process or Alarm is active) and At End (when the Process or Alarm is cleared/stopped). c. Source Type – this is where you will select the different types of data fields, in this example select Barcode Reader. d. Not Required – if you select this it will allow the operator to leave the field blank (no data). e. Allow Modification Anytime – if you select this option it will allow the operator to change the data field at any time while the Process or Alarm is active. f. Allow Manual Override – this will allow the operator to type in the information instead of using the NFC. g. Value Type – there are 4 options available. i. Text – each character typed in will show as text. ii. Numeric (Integer) – the field will only accept a number. iii. Numeric (Decimal) – the field will only accept a number as a decimal. iv. True/False – this option shows but it is not applicable to this type of data field.

9. Shared List Data Field – this option requires the operator to select options from a list. NOTE: the list must be created previously in the Selection List section of the software. Please refer to the How To Guide on creating a Selection List if you have not completed this step.

a. Data Field Name – enter the name of the data that will be entered. What you type in here will show on the input module as the title. b. Mode – pick the time or moment that you want the operator to be prompted to fill out the information. The options are At Start (beginning of Process or Alarm), During (anytime while the Process or Alarm is active) and At End (when the Process or Alarm is cleared/stopped). c. Source Type – this is where you will select the different types of data fields, in this example select List. d. Not Required – if you select this it will allow the operator to leave the field blank (no data). e. Allow Modification Anytime – if you select this option it will allow the operator to change the data field at any time while the Process or Alarm is active. f. Source – select Shared List for this example. g. List – click on the down arrow to select one of the existing Shared Lists already created. h. Value Type – there are 4 options available – you must select the option related to the List you created (text for a list of text – number for a list of only numbers). i. Text – each character shown in the list will be entered in to the database as text. ii. Numeric (Integer) – each character shown in the list will be entered in to the database as a number. iii. Numeric (Decimal) – each character shown in the list will be entered in to the database as text. iv. True/False – this option shows but it is not applicable to this type of data field.

10. Static List Data Field – this option requires the operator to select options from a list. The list will be created specifically for this device only.

a. Data Field Name – enter the name of the data that will be entered. What you type in here will show on the input module as the title. b. Mode – pick the time or moment that you want the operator to be prompted to fill out the information. The options are At Start (beginning of Process or Alarm), During (anytime while the Process or Alarm is active) and At End (when the Process or Alarm is cleared/stopped). c. Source Type – this is where you will select the different types of data fields, in this example select List. d. Not Required – if you select this it will allow the operator to leave the field blank (no data). e. Allow Modification Anytime – if you select this option it will allow the operator to change the data field at any time while the Process or Alarm is active. f. Source – select Static for this example. g. List Items – a new tab will appear next to the Data Field tab titled List Items. Select this tab to add the items for the list for this specific device. i. Adding an Item – click on the add or plus icon in the tool box. Fill out the Item properties box. 1. Name – the name entered here will appear in the list on the module. 2. Value – if you want a different name to be stored in the database other than what was entered for Name checkmark the box and type it in. ii. Repeat the steps to add additional items. Once all items have been setup click on the Data Field tab. h. Value Type – there are 4 options available – you must select the option related to the List you created (text for a list of text – number for a list of only numbers). i. Text – each character shown in the list will be entered in to the database as text. ii. Numeric (Integer) – each character shown in the list will be entered in to the database as a number. iii. Numeric (Decimal) – each character shown in the list will be entered in to the database as text. iv. True/False – this option shows but it is not applicable to this type of data field.

11. Shared List Tally Data Field – this option requires the operator to enter a number or value for each item on a shared list. This option is most commonly used for Scrap. NOTE: the list must be created previously in the Selection List section of the software. Please refer to the How To Guide on creating a Selection List if you have not completed this step.

a. Data Field Name – enter the name of the data that will be entered. What you type in here will show on the input module as the title. b. Mode – pick the time or moment that you want the operator to be prompted to fill out the information. The options are At Start (beginning of Process or Alarm), During (anytime while the Process or Alarm is active) and At End (when the Process or Alarm is cleared/stopped). c. Source Type – this is where you will select the different types of data fields, in this example select Tally. d. Allow Modification Anytime – if you select this option it will allow the operator to change the data field at any time while the Process or Alarm is active. e. Source – select Shared List for this example. f. List – click on the down arrow to select one of the existing Shared Lists already created.

12. Static List Tally Data Field – this option requires the operator to enter a number or value for each item on the list. The list will be created specifically for this device only.

a. Data Field Name – enter the name of the data that will be entered. What you type in here will show on the input module as the title. b. Mode – pick the time or moment that you want the operator to be prompted to fill out the information. The options are At Start (beginning of Process or Alarm), During (anytime while the Process or Alarm is active) and At End (when the Process or Alarm is cleared/stopped). c. Source Type – this is where you will select the different types of data fields, in this example select Tally. d. Allow Modification Anytime – select to allow the operator to change the tally anytime. e. Source – select Static for this example. f. List Items – a new tab will appear next to the Data Field tab titled List Items. Select this tab to add the items for the list for this specific device. i. Adding an Item – click on the add or plus icon in the tool box. Fill out the Item properties box. 1. Name – the name entered here will appear in the list on the module. 2. Value – if you want a different name to be stored in the database other than what was entered for Name checkmark the box and type it in. ii. Repeat the steps to add additional items – select the Data Field tab when complete.

13. Shared List - Checklist Data Field – this type allows the operator to checkmark a box or select an option next to a list item. NOTE: the list must be created previously in the Selection List section of the software. Please refer to the How To Guide on creating a Selection List if you have not completed this step.

a. Data Field Name – enter the name of the data that will be entered. What you type in here will show on the input module as the title. b. Mode – pick the time or moment that you want the operator to be prompted to fill out the information. The options are At Start (beginning of Process or Alarm), During (anytime while the Process or Alarm is active) and At End (when the Process or Alarm is cleared/stopped). c. Source Type – select Checklist for this example. d. Options – select how the data can be entered. i. Not Required – if you select this it will allow the operator to leave the field blank (no data). ii. Allow Modification Anytime – if you select this option it will allow the operator to change the data field at any time while the Process or Alarm is active. e. Style – select how the checklist will look and be selected. i. Checkbox – a box will appear next to the item – select the box to place a checkmark. ii. Pass/Fail – an option for Pass and an option for Fail will appear next to the item. iii. Pass/Fail/Nothing – an option for Pass, and option for Fail and an option for Nothing will appear next to the item. f. Requirements – select the properties of the checklist i. None – used if the operator is not required to select anything for the list item. ii. Require Selection – used if the operator must select an option for the list item. iii. Require Pass – used if the operator must select Pass for the list item. g. Source – select Shared List for this example. h. List – click on the down arrow and select one of the previously created Shared Lists

14. Static List – Checklist Data Field – this type allows the operator to checkmark a box or select an option next to a list item. The list will be created specifically for this device only.

a. Data Field Name – enter the name of the data that will be entered. What you type in here will show on the input module as the title. b. Mode – pick the time or moment that you want the operator to be prompted to fill out the information. The options are At Start (beginning of Process or Alarm), During (anytime while the Process or Alarm is active) and At End (when the Process or Alarm is cleared/stopped). c. Source Type – select Checklist for this example. d. Options – select how the data can be entered. i. Not Required – if you select this it will allow the operator to leave the field blank (no data). ii. Allow Modification Anytime – if you select this option it will allow the operator to change the data field at any time while the Process or Alarm is active. e. Style – select how the checklist will look and be selected. i. Checkbox – a box will appear next to the item – select the box to place a checkmark. ii. Pass/Fail – an option for Pass and an option for Fail will appear next to the item. iii. Pass/Fail/Nothing – an option for Pass, and option for Fail and an option for Nothing will appear next to the item. f. Requirements – select the properties of the checklist i. None – used if the operator is not required to select anything for the list item. ii. Require Selection – used if the operator must select an option for the list item. iii.
