Overview
A BSC module can have Data Fields added to Alarms or Processes. This guide covers a Text Field when selecting Key Input as the Source Type. Key Inputs can be used for any type of data entry, they allow the user to type in whatever is needed with no restrictions.


Requirements

1. The VT3000 Core Software installed and running on your system.
2. Hardware: Coordinator must be setup, powered and communicating with the VT3000 Core Software.
3. Software - PC BSC plug in must be loaded in your system.
4. Hardware - BSC plugin must be loaded in your system.
5. Hardware - BSC must be powered & communicating with the system.
6. The Configuration must contain at least one Alarm or Process.

Step 1.
Open the VT3000 web interface – select VT3000 Core Software - log in – select Configuration – select Devices.

Step 2.
Select the BSC Device that you want to add the Data Field to from the list - select the Edit button.

Step 3.
Select the Monitoring Points tab.

Step 4.
Select the Alarm or Process that you want to add a Data Field to. Our example will use the Supervisor Alarm.

Step 5.
Select the Add Data Field icon in the Monitoring Points tool box.

Step 6.
Data Field Properties - each field is explained below:

Data Field Name - enter a name, this will show on the device when the field is active.
Mode - Processes will have At Start & At End. Alarms will have Set, Acknowledge & Clear depending on the type of alarm. Select the appropriate setting for your configuration.
Source Type – select Key Input.
Not Required – allows the operator to leave the field blank (no data).
Allow Modification Anytime – allows the operator to change the data at any time while the Process/Alarm is active.
VALUE TYPE - Text - all characters typed in will be accepted/recorded.
VALUE TYPE - Numeric (Integer) - only numbers will be accepted/recorded.
VALUE TYPE - Numeric (Decimal) - only numbers with decimals will be accepted/recorded.
VALUE TYPE - True/False - a bubble will show on the screen (True or False) the operator will have to select one - the value will be recorded.




Step 7.
Once the Data Field(s) have been setup - select the Save & Exit button to save the changes.

Step 8.
The BSC module will have to be updated before the Data Field will appear on the screen. Click Here for instructions on updating the module.
