VT3000 - Update IO Module Firmware - BSC, TIM, PSM

Overview
If you are updating a BSC, TIM or PSM - you have to upgrade the (HMI app) on the touch screen first. CLICK HERE to return to the main update page and select the instructions for your specific Touch Screen type if this has not been complete. If you are updating a Wireless Controls Module or Switch Contact Module, there is no touch screen for these devices. Use the instructions below to upgrade the firmware on your BSC I/O, TIM I/O, PSM I/O, Wireless Controls Module or Switch Contact Module.

1. LOADME.hex file from VersaCall Support.
2. Micro SD Card Adapter and/or Reader. Micro SD Card will come from the I/O Module.
3. An available computer that can accept the Adapter or Reader.
4. BSC I/O, TIM I/O, PSM I/O, Wireless Controls Module or Switch Contact Module that needs to be updated.

Step 1.
If you received a zip file, please unzip it. There will be either a LOADME.hex file inside the zip folder. If you did not receive a zip file, verify you received the LOADME.hex files shown below.

Step 2.
Copy the LOADME.hex file to your Documents folder.

Step 3.
Stop all Processes, Counts and Alarms on the device - you want nothing active on the station while updating the firmware.
CLICK HERE for instructions on how to clear active Processes, Counts and Alarms.




Step 4.
Disconnect power from the I/O module - loosen the 4 screws from I/O module - remove the cover.

Step 5.
On the I/O board – locate the Micro SD card in the top right corner.

Step 6.
Remove the micro SD card - push up on the metal sleeve then let it fall back. When you push up the sleeve there will be a click when it is unlocked. NOTE: do this step with care. If the sleeve is damaged the entire I/O module will need to be replaced.

Step 7.
Connect the Micro SD card to an adapter and/or reader - plug the SD Card reader into the computer.

Step 8.
Open your Documents folder where you saved the LOADME.hex file.

Step 9.
Right click on the LOADME.hex file - select Copy.

Step 10.
Using Windows Explorer, select This PC and you should see the SD Card reader or adapter show as a drive. Double click on this drive.

Step 11.
Leave any existing files on the SD Card, do not delete anything. Right click in an open space in the file list - select Paste.

Step 12.
The LOADME.hex file should now show on the SD Card along with any other files that were already there.

Step 13.
Remove the SD Card Adapter or Reader from the computer. Remove the Micro SD Card from the Adapter or Reader.

Step 14.
Place the SD Card into the metal sleeve. Push the sleeve down onto the board. Push the sleeve down towards the bottom of the device to lock it into place. Reverse the process you used in removing the Micro SD Card.

Step 15.
Replace the cover on the I/O Module. Plug in the power cord on the I/O Module.

Step 16.
The firmware will take 1 to 3 minutes to fully load. You will need to update the configuration on the device.
